EASY CARE STEPS FOR BOTH FOREVER II™ FINISH AND
FOREVER II™ SATIN FINISH:
-
Vacuum or sweep your floor once a week, or more if needed. The vacuum head must
be brush or felt. Do not use vacuums with beater bars or hard heads. A good
quality dust mop is also highly recommended to eliminate finer particles of
grit and dirt that can act like sandpaper on a hardwood floor. Keep animal
nails trimmed to prevent finish scratches.
-
If your floor abuts exterior doors, place outside doormats at the entrances to
keep dirt and moisture from being tracked in. Inside, you may want to add
an area rug to further prevent dirt and moisture from being tracked onto your
hardwood floor. Don’t use rubber, foam back or plastic mats as they may
trap moisture and possibly discolor your floor.
-
Spills and tracked-in dirt should be cleaned immediately. Using Robbins ForEver
II Hardwood Flooring Cleaner, lightly apply to the surface and wipe with a
sponge mop or a soft cloth. Excess cleaner that does not evaporate immediately
should be dried with a clean towel. No rinsing is necessary. (For difficult
stains, use Robbins Hardwood Flooring Spot Cleaner).
-
Twice a year, apply Robbins ForEver II Coat (High Gloss) or ForEver II Coat
(Satin) Polyurethane Top Dressing. The application of this top dressing can be
done in one easy step. Simply apply a thin coat with a sponge mop and let dry.
When possible, always apply with the grain. (See the product container for
important details).
DO:
-
Wipe up spills immediately.
-
Use door mats and throw rugs outside room entrances and in front of kitchen
sink and refrigerator to help keep dirt and grit off your floor, and to prevent
damage and excessive wear.
-
Place runners and area rugs (with slip-resistant backings) along high-traffic
areas.
-
Move heavy appliances and furniture by using a dolly rolled over plywood or
pressed board.
-
Use furniture leg protector pads under all furniture legs.
-
Replace hard, narrow furniture rollers with wide rubber rollers.
-
Keep the relative humidity in your home between 45% and 55%.
-
Protect your floor from direct sunlight.
DON'T:
-
Use any of the following products (or products similar in nature) on your
floor: ammonia based cleaners, acrylic finishes, wax based products,
detergents, bleach, polishes and oil soaps, or abrasive cleaning soaps.
-
Allow water to stand on your floor for any length of time.
-
Walk across your floor in poorly maintained shoes with heel taps, spike heels
or with any sharp object protruding from your shoe.
-
Allow furniture to rest on the floor on small metal tips or hard domes.
QUICK FIXES - THE HARDWOOD ADVANTAGE
Minor Abrasions/Surface Scratches in
